View Full Version : gator
After re-installing windows yesterday I spent about an hour last night looking through the little red book for all my logins and passwords.
I used to have gator on the old system ,which I didn't allow internet access through ZA.
Is there another better password rememberer that isn't spyware or shall I reinstall gator ?

The best password rememberer is to write them on a piece of paper and put them under the carpet. No hacker can find them there without coming into your house.

Hi Nig
I here "roboform" is good. I havent got the URL I will post it laster
John
Nig its http://www.roboform.com it says its not spyware i dont know if it works with ZA
you could have 1 password for everything :)
John
not with the number of accounts I've got :lol
I don't know if anyone checks passwords ,or even can get to them .But it wouldn't look good if they found that person has the same password as that person, who also has the same password as that person....
And O look , they've all got nearly but not quite the same address .!

Nig,
You've got my curiosity up. What type of site would be concerned if you had more than one account?

BTW, does Gator work (to log you in, etc) if you block it's access to the Internet?

I have a small (around 5"X4") hard backed book(so it can stand a bit of bashin) with lined paper in that I use - one section I jot down passwords/accounts etc, another section contains serial numbers for software, and in the back I jot down sites I find to be very useful incase I loose my favs (not all sites go down just those I rate highly)
I never, ever use anything like gator because I don't trust all my information to be stored on one program - and these type can prove to be a hackers delight. Try to get a small book with a pen/pencil inside so you are not rooting around for a pen - cost around 50p to a quid - beauty is too, its portable :)
If you are bothered about others looking in it, then get one of those small diarys with the locks on, and use it the same way. ;)
I forgot to say if you cover the book in brightly coloured wrapping paper, or with stickers, you will never loose it. I also have a cd holder and in the back it has pages for addresses and a few blacnk sheets for notes, this is handy too.

As always the old solutions are the best, a simple little Book with pen to hand is some think that no hacker or anyone else can see. You can even keep it locked away behind A five-lever padlock or a safe for that matter! But remember one thing don't lose the key or forget where you have put it.

I went for the book option myself :lol
In one section I've all my personal contacts addresses, in another I've got the passwords for my accounts and as I'm rubbish at html if I do something that works I write that in there too so I don't forget :lol
Oh, I thought about the wrapping paper but went for the Pokemon stickers instead - I'm 35 :lol
I go for the little red books option as a backup. I used to have a load of post it notes around the monitor when I first started this internet malarchy , but it's amazing how much dust they attract.

Does anyone know if Gator works (to log you in, fill forms etc) if you block it's access to the Internet using Zonealarm? Ta.
When you load it you have to allow it access to the net to register the fake details you just typed in.Then change the settings in ZA to block access.

Nig it that gator or robo ?
That's gator John.
I aint tried robo yet.
