am wanting a nas server - there are 2 or 3 products about that do that - all based on linux
freenas - http://www.freenas.org/
naslite - http://www.serverelements.com/
openfiler- http://www.openfiler.com/
tried the first 2 -
freenas is ok - but is in a beta stage and i would not trust data to it
naslite - tried it - seems solid until some hardware is changed - then drives are gone - help forum says this does not happen - does for me - again would not trust it
openfiler - not tried it - not a comlete product as the other 2 - has to be worked on by the installer i understand to get it to work as a nas server [may be wrong in that]
so to the experts - all i want is a nas server that i can trust - linux seems to be the core - not interested in a linux system as such - but would installing one do what i want or do i have to learn and add on all sorts
