Hi

Today, I switched on my computer and I get the following messages;

====================
Vet Resident Protection Version 10.2.5.0

First, I get this message......

c:\windows\system\scam32.exe is win32.sircam.137216 worm. Not Restored.

And then it keep on getting this message.......

c:\recycled\sirc32.exe is win32.sircam.137216 worm. Not Restored.

===================

When I click on any Application program, I get the above message.

I have tried everything and it will not let me do anything at all. From Dos, I tried to look for these files so that I can delete it but no sign of these files at all.

After serveral attempts, I managed to log onto Internet and post this message to ask for your help.

I have lot of stuff on my hard Drive which I do not want to loose.

On my computer, I have installed InoculateIT Personal Edition virius Software and ZoneAlarm Firewall. Yesterday, I did update my InoculateIT virus signatures and other than I do not know why I get message.

Any help would be much appreciated.....

Thanks

Sounds like you've go the sircam worm :(
Go here (http://www.cai.com/virusinfo/encyclopedia/descriptions/s/sircam137216.htm) for instructions on how to either automatically or manually remove it.

Good luck!

Hi

Thanks you for your help. I have now managed to remove the deadly virus from my computer by using the following patch supplied by kaspersky Lab www.kaspersky.com .

http://www.kaspersky.com/news.asp?tnews=0&nview=7&id=208&page=0

Above is a Dos-Application based small patch that actually detects and then the remove the offending virus from your computer. It has worked for me and my computer now seems to be working fine.

Once again, thank for you help.....

Keep your eyes peeled mate, they continue to lurk in your system hidden. Have a look for evidence of it hiding in the registry. it may come back it may not! best of luck :)
