Can it install on and boot from a RAID 0 set up yet?

Yes, RAID 0 is supported - More info here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RaidConfigurationHowto) for raid 0 already in use and created in Windows. This mentions a rather old version of Ubuntu. I'll check further - maybe later versions have it all built in and easy to use.
Later... This article (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto?highlight=%28raid%29) describes how to install Ubuntu onto a raid setup created by Windows. I think this is probably what you want. Otherwise, for a new Linux only installation, Linux uses it's own version of raid.

The second link refers to the latest version (7.04) - probably best to ignore the first link I found :)
I did a search of the Ubuntu docs - With this result (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TitleIndex?action=fullsearch&context=180&value=raid&titlesearch=Titles)
