Hi
Neowatch is another personal firewall isn't it? I wouldn't recommend using more than one firewall on a system - you may get conflicts. Yes, I know some people do run two but if you're using ZA you don't need another one. IT doesn't serve any useful purpose. Think about it, if you are going to run a second firewall because you don't trust the first one then it isn't doing its job is it? You might just as well ditch it and go with a new one - or is that one working correctly? Ah - that way lies madness :lol
The zonelabs web site also warns against running another firewall with ZA.

Thanks! I'm sure you are correct I thought it so conveient to immediately be able to checkout who was wanting to get into my ports rather than having to type the addresses in Neotrace.

It's like building two brick walls one behind each other and throwing a ball at the first one.
The second wall will never be used but if it is you need a better builder for the first.

Hi
Nobody is 'hyping up Zonealarm' as you put it. My answer would be the same if he was trying to use Tiny PF & Neowatch - it's pointless to run two firewalls at the same time. It can cause a conflict if you run two low-level drivers that use TCP/IP. Both firewalls perform the same function so therefore one of them is redundant. I don't care if flook, or anyone else, chooses Neowatch/Tiny PF/Sygate etc as their firewall - it serves no useful purpose to run TWO firewalls at the same time.
I just happen to use Zonealarm Pro, I prefer it and that's my choice. I'm not telling anybody to use it, it's their choice what they install. If anyone asks for a recommendation I will, obviously, recommend ZA. I also didn't say ZA was invincible, I know well enough about computer security I've been involved in it for 25 years! The biggest problem with security is not the software it's the device fitted between the back of the chair and the keyboard.
flook, if you want a reporting utility have you thought about using ZoneLog from www.zonelog.co.uk. It will provide you with the ability to determine who is getting at your system. Don't forget that ZoneAlarm also has that facility too.
