Does anyone know what this entry in Vista's registrys should be set at ??
I shoud of made changes to this entry and changed the wrong one and now i,m muddled up???
ClearPageFileAtShutdown [you can change it from 0 to 1 to clear page file
at shutdown and i do it now and then and then put it back to 0].
DisablePagingExecutive dont know if it should be 0 or 1 default setting?

As they say in Star Trek you are IMHO a bit daft being willing "to boldly go where no man has gone before" :lol

ClearPageFileAtShutdown when set to "0" doesn’t clear the page file when you turn off your PC, This can speed up the shutting down of your computer, but is a security risk as it wont then clear any unencrypted passwords that may be in the file.
Set to "1" by default, clears page file before shutdown.
Its not wise to alter DisablePagingExecutive from the default "0", unless you have a lot of ram, your system could fall over.
Not sure why you would want to mess with these settings, wont make much difference in vista.
"If it's not broke don't fix it" is a good adage here. :lol

I did'nt mean to change this one DisablePagingExecutive. I was after changing the one above ClearPageFileAtShutdown and maybes made the error
when putting it back to its original setting. they are right next to each other in the reigstry hive.

I too wouldn't recommend touching the registry unless you really know what you're doing. In any case you should be careful to make a backup of all 5 hives (if it's still 5 hives in Vista) of the registry - then if you do mess it up you can restore it. But, of course, you must make sure that you can restore the registry even with a broken Windows system - BEFORE MAKING CHANGES.

dunno if this helps, but I have always found this program www.tuneup-software.co.uk/products/tuneup-utilities/ great at sorting out registry problems, and it has a 30 day free trial!
