Someone's child has put a password on the family computer (Windows XP) and can't remember what it is. Computer illiterate parent is having a fit.
Any suggestions as to the advice I should offer? :lol

Oh the joys of Windows! :lol Sorry I'm afraid I don't know and all I can suggest is Google. If it were Linux I could probably help ;)

Sell the computer, or the child.

teach them to use google http://www.google.com/search?q=reset+password+windows+xp :)

Which is what I did Silver. Left them with two solutions but as yet have had no news!

I only had a quick look as it's not a problem I've run into before but it sounds reasonably straight forward providing you have another working PC to burn disks or create floppies

Press CTRL-ALT-DETETE twice at the welcome screen, logon as Administrator, passwords usually blank, then use control panel, user accounts and remove password from the account.
