Is there any way I can import my Windows XP Address Book (.wab file) into Windows Vista Mail Contacts and maintain the Group Folders?

I have saved the Address Book (.wab file), but Vista Mail imports the whole lot without the Group Folders. I had several thousand contacts all nicely sorted into their appropriate business categories, and now it’s one big disorganised database.

Luckily I have the .wab file saved to disc, so I can delete all the Vista import and start again if only someone could tell me how to perform this little task.

Thanks, Joe

I think you'll find that this is why Outlook mail was designed to be a much more versatile mail handler.

TBH I think you would do better to ask your question in the Vista forums, http://thevistaforums.com/index.php? a lot of Vista experts are in residence there.

FWIW I use Vista and though initially I had some problems I am very happy with it now.:)

You will need to import the .wab back into OE.

Select your address folders one at a time, select all addresses in main window and copy and paste vcards to a folder, do this with all your adds folders pasting adds to seperate folders.

Import vcards one folder at a time to vista address book, organising into folders as you go.
