I just noticed that the Gnome Partition Editor has disappeared from the 8.04 version under System/Administration.
I looked for a gparted executable and could not find one, so I went to the 7.04 puter and found it under /usr/bin. So maybe it is not included in the 8.04 default install?
Do you suppose it is considered too dangerous?

Sorry, missed this thread the other day.
GParted is not installed by default - for most users, once the system is installed it will not be necessary to use a partition editor - and yes, it is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands. It is included in the LiveCD though.
Use Synaptic to download and install it. Use the search facility to locate it in the repositories then install in the usual way. It's small so it's pretty quick to download and install. It's one of the first things I install after installing a new system - I'm always fiddling about with partitions and it's useful to see what's what when there are a lot of partitions (without actually altering anything).

Another head scratcher. I fired up Synaptic only to discover that it is already installed. I had already used search to look for gparted and neither then nor now can I find any application file by that name.
Ideas?
Edit: I forgot to right click on the name and mark it for installation, without which critical step I thought it was already installed. Problem gone. Thanks
