lost window bar on ubuntu

Well I have not, but the odd thing is my wifes account has! (by window bar I mean the bit at the top with an "x" in the far right) This has only happened since I "upgraded" to 8.10

I have tried a few things like changing the appearance settings bu that does not work

and don't suggest anything in terminal as that is just a blank white square! (terminal works OK in my account)

please help as my wife has only just been convinced to use ubuntu!

hmmm had limited success if I type metacity --replace in terminal (though this is not easy when you cant see what your typing)

but if I close terminal then it reverts back.

please help as my wife has only just been convinced to use ubuntu!How strange. ATM I have no idea - I shall have to investigate. You could try creating another account and seeing if that has the problem. I think it must be to do with the settings for your wife's account. I seem to recall a similar problem during the development phase but trying to find the info would be like looking for a needle in a haystack - there have been thousands of bugs and bug fixes and posts on the Ubuntu development forum.

It might be worth your while becoming a member of the Ubuntu Forums (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/) - they are a very helpful lot. I've been a member for a couple of years now and have had a great deal of help.
