Can anyone help please. I can use my right mouse button in other progs - but it has stopped functioning in internet explorer. I want to right click on links or files so that I can save them, or open links in a new window. Any suggestions appreciated.

The are scripts that can be added to web page code (HTML) that turns off the right hand click fundtion of the mouse. This is done to protect people fromt stealing images / code which the majority of the time is held under copyright.

I have heard (honest guv!) that the majority of the time advanced scripts like this are found on Porn sites...again I must stress that I have only ever heard this and not actually been to one...ever!!!!! ;)

I have come accross sites that are not linked to pron that have it disabled - a lot of sites where people have made their own graphics etc have it disabled ;)

I would like to know if it is happening all the time? For instance, on n4n you can right click, so if you can't do it on here, there is some other problem - have you checked your mouse drivers? Try re-installing those or look at your mouse settings, and if anything is blanked out and unaccessible in the settings that wasn't before, chances are it needs the driver re-installing :)

Of course there could be another problem, but as a process of elimination, start at the simplest possible cause (settings) and then work up (drivers) etc..... hope this helps!

Can't imagine which sites you've found them on furbs :lol
Try repairing internet explorer from add/remove programs if this happens on every web page.

I did visit a site a couple of weeks ago specifically looking for scripts to minimise downloading of images from a wedding pictures site. I didn't download the script & I didn't have any problems for the next week or so. The only other thing that I can think of is Microsofts auto update. I leave it to check weekly for updates.
I can right click in all other progs. I'll try re-installing IE5.5

Are you using mcfae virus scanner?
Has repairing it in add/remove programs helped?

Repairing it hasn't helped.
I am using McAfee - have done for a while.
I can right click on the header bar, etx - bur not within pages.
Pity IE doesn't have an uninstall function.

Try uninstalling mcafee virus scan.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried them all - but nothing worked. Decided that the only way to fix the problem was to re-install IE5.5.
It didn't want to let me do that - so reinstalled Windows.
A bit drastic - but at least it solved my problem.
