Doesn't seem to be a lot between them. I can't see the last post while I'm writing this reply which is a bit inconvenient but I can live with it. Main thing though is the lack of "mark forum read". Without that feature on a board this busy I think it's unusable. :(

The lack of "Mark Forum read" is a bit of a pain. For look and feel I think ezboard was better - gave a cleaner, less cluttered impression. The big deciding factor is the naffness of the eek smiley on this board though :(

personally i think this is better than ezboard.
everything looks and feels great it has that crisp feeling to it. there aint no adverts or popups neither other than the one from N4N's sponsor KeMe but thats expected and that hardly makes any difference in loading times.
generally i think he has made the right decision in keepin the IMg and HTML tags off as the board runs very fast.
it can prove very frustrating for those us waiting ages just for peoples bloody sigs to load (although it dotn make much difference with me and ADSL :p lol)
a million times better than ezboard, anyway i know not having a mark forum read tag maybe discouraging, but what would ya rather have a reliable and fast board where ya can post, or a slow and unreliable board that often has downtime (meaning ezboard). personally i would prefer the former.
having those flash sigs banned and img tags makes all the difference.
in a way i think it sort of spoils it. having those flashy sigs just staick with the basic.

We have changed from Ezboard to Ikonboard and it is much faster and no popups. I think Ezboard have shot themselves in the foot with their new approach. Watch for them disappearing over the next few months as more and more admins go for other options. The Ezboard popups also frighten away members and most will not pay just to stop the popups - they will just visit boards that don't have them :)

So ezboard is a bit more popular but most people don't seem to care?
If the admin pays $15 there is no-pop ups (like my board)

why should the admin fork out for it tho.
i mean i am admin at quite a fw popular boards on ezboard, mainly to do with wrestling and F1.
basically i can see eze's demise in the coming months. #
if ya want rid of the popups and adverts user adsubtract or the best yet webwasher.

The crucial difference is that with ezboard they host it and pay for bandwidth, with all the others the admin has to find the host and pay for bandwidth as the board is a set of scripts and nothing more.
For low traffic boards people can use free space from ISPs, or cheap hosting. When traffic goes into multiple GBs/month then it starts to cost.
ez have to find money from somewhere to run the service and if the advertisers wont pay then they need to do something else.

granted but the original idea was for a free bulletain board or forum community now exe has developed into a pay for community.
this somewhat annoying as they have dfeated the object which is why many wont sign up to the CSC service.
they claim the need aroun 100,000 members to signup this year to keep them going. why should we have to pay up when it was a free service originally.
also say they do get this 100,000 members so signup, you can't forget the additional revenue they are gonna get from advertisers as well. although a 100 thousand or so members wont see them, there will still be the other three million or so that will view them. and there is even more revenue. basically ezboard has made it's own bed so it should lie in it.
i dont see why the users should have to "PAY" for the company's mistakes
